Term 3: Week 6: Visit from a writer...
So, last week we were SO lucky to have Monique Polak visit our class and talk about writing. She is an author of young adult and kids novels, and since 2004, she has published five novels called- Flip Turn, No More Pranks, On the Game, Home Invasion, and All In.
She told us that writers are writers are snoopy, they watch and listen to everything around them since it could be good for their next story or book. She also talked about 4 different types of writing, so today I'd like for you to try one of the types: observation.
In your head (or imagination), think about your last time driving skidoo or going goose hunting in spring. (Close your eyes if that will help you imagine it.) Just to help you out, it is one of those really sunny days in early May, before there is rain.
What I would you like you write is: what does each of your senses experience from that kind of day.
You can do it like below, by filling in the end of each sentence.
My eyes see....
My ears hear....
My nose smells ...
My skin feels...
I taste...
I feel....
So, that's your assignment of the week! Enjoy!

I went for a ride with Eva, she was riding a ski-doo and i was holding Noah on my back with amautik. That was last year. Me and Eva we went for a ride cuz Noah was crying or something, maybe he couldn't sleep, anyway we went to the gas station first to fill the tank to use the ski-doo all day.
She was using warm clothes as usuall in the winter and me i was using amautik and ski pants what ever was warm enough. That day was the incridible sunny warm day for riding around.
Evas mom told us to not be long on ski-doo cuz she had to use it to go to school, eva said that she will come if Noah goes to sleep. Eva and i we got on ski-doo. We went for a one big turn not around town, out of the town, it was beautiful view and cool place to look at, eva shut the ski-doo off, Noah was asleep behind my back and i noticed that he had his diaper felt with pee. I told eva that he peed on my back so she tryed turning on the ski-doo, the ski-doo was dead like the ski-doo was tired, {overheated} Noah on my back started crying and eva was rusting, trying to turn on the ski-doo. That day when she was getting mad and i was getting mad her so I yelt so loud to stop making her mad, at the moment we got quiet, out of no where lot of ptarmigans came out of the trees. Eva looked at me suprised and i, I started laughing at her and she did too.
After we laughed, i finally noticed that Noah was on my back so eva tryed turning on the ski-doo again and it finally woke up {turn on}
The thing I felt hear see was I was cold, I heard

Most of you had some interesting ideas for this creative story. Remember, like Monique told us, we have to start somewhere, but to write books like she does it means you have to re-write and correct it MANY times over!!
For me, I remember a day a few years ago when I was on the land with Anne, Yayi and Brian. We were going to the tent to do some goose hunting, and left as the sun was just starting to peak out from behind the mountains.
By lunch time, my stomach was growling, but the sun was so hot that I felt as though I could drive on the bobbing sea ice with only a thin fleece on. The smell of the fresh, ocean air was the only thing to keep me from falling asleep as I bounded over the icy tidal bumps on the still-frozen Ungava Bay.
As I arrived at the tent, my eyes were shocked to see a flying "V" of almost 25 geese. I quickly cut the roar of the engine, and froze like an ice statue at Winterlude in Ottawa.
What a day during the most beautiful season of the North. The kind of day that allows you one of the best sleeps of the year.
